Who: Legolas and anyone.
What: NEW ARRIVAL ALERT! Oh, and exploring!
When: Oct. 25th.
Where: Just pick a place and we'll make it work. Love to anyone that finds the hippy elf in the forest.
Rating: G!
One moment he had been with Gimli, Aragorn and Gandalf, hearing messages passed to Gandalf from the Lady Galadriel. He'd been armed and ready to go to Edoras, content with the knowledge that Merry and Pippin were safe. Safer. And now he was...
Well, Legolas wasn't entirely sure where he was. He'd seen, in passing, the buildings of Men though never had he entered them. He'd been content enough to remain out of doors or in the forest. It reminded him very much of what he'd seen though. And this only raised the question of how he came to be here. Standing and doing nothing wouldn't answer his questions though, this he knew. Only by exploring could he find what he wanted to know and hopefully that would include a way back. It wasn't long after he started to explore that he realized that he was now also unarmed. His quiver was still on his back but it was empty of arrows and he no longer carried his knife or the bow that the Lady of the Golden Wood had gifted him. Guilt tore at him over the loss of such a precious gift. He knew that he could craft himself another bow but it would never compare to those of the Galadhrim.
Garbed in grey, most will find him, a cloak about his shoulders and unassuming. He was cautious, of course, because who knew if this was some trick of Saruman or of the Enemy.

He turned a corner in the gardens, ambling, enjoy the cool press of sun on him, growing less comforting as the winter took stronger hold. He turned his gaze up, away from the winter flowers that dotted the pathway, and halted, staring openly at the golden hair and familiar dress.
"Legolas?" he asked cautiously, the other's back to him at the moment.

The sudden call of his name drew him away from those thoughts, turning to see who had called out to him. The voice wasn't familiar but it was his name, there was little that one could say that could be mistaken for his name. Looking the other over, he couldn't place a name to him. He wasn't anyone that Legolas had met in several hundred years.
Strange.
He looked elven but not.
"Yes?"
no subject
'Yes'? Just that? Ah, then he did not... Well, nothing for it, and it was hardly Legolas' fault was it? It brought a touch of sadness to him, but he shoved it back and away. No use pondering it.
"Ah, my apologies. It seems we have not met properly," he said, gliding up to Legolas and pausing a few feet from him, canting his head slightly, the jewels on his long ears sparking. "My name is Ashura."
He hoped that might spark something, anything, but in the past months, he found he had run out of hope for many things.

Legolas turned fully as Ashura came close, smiling just enough to be polite but a little on the defensive side. He hadn't expected to find anyone here that knew his name but for the Lady Galadriel. It was unnerving.
"We are well-met, Ashura. You already seem to know who I am." So there's little point in introducing himself. "I apologize if I'm intruding."

"Not at all. The garden is public, only I think not many enjoy it when the air begins to bite," he waved his hand, gold flashing on his wrist.
To think, all the repore would need to he rebuilt. It seemed... Daunting and tiring now, but he thought worth it. He had enjoyed Legolas' company and the wine.
"We met before, when you were here last. I found I enjoyed your company. Galadriel and I spoke fondly of you when you first left." There, that might put him at ease, knowing Ashura was befriended to the Lady of the Forest.

"I've been here before?"
How could he have been someplace but not recall it? And if he had, what magic could have stolen away his memories? The thought made him feel more than a little bit guilty, hearing Ashura go on.
"I am glad to hear that you found my company pleasant. I hope that you might again."
And then FaceOff and Supernatural distracted me
He noted the relaxation, and though he did not like using Galadriel's name to garner trust, sometimes it was useful. She was widely respected around the Castle, and at one point had been Ashura's 'grandmother'. He would have been more worried if Legolas had reacted badly.
"Yes, once before. That you do not remember is unsurprising. The time in this Castle seems to be... a singular sort of influence. Once you leave, you simply forget."
He shook his head sadly, but what could really be said of it? It was not as if one could force the old memories back. Once gone, such things tended to remain gone, though he did wonder if the Lady Yuuko might... ah, but she would ask a price, and he doubted she would play with someone's memories without the owner's consent besides.
"I am sure I will. Are you still traveling with the little hobbit fellow? Frodo, you called him?"
whoops! XD
"I am sorry that I do not remember."
He really was. How could he not be when one seemed so disappointed that he could not remember something? Or someone.
A moment of panic washed over him at the mention of Frodo but it passed quickly, the elf reminding himself that Galadriel had to trust Ashura. And that he only mentioned traveling.
"No. Frodo parted our company several days ago."
Re: whoops! XD
"Hmm..." was his reply, not wanting to say anything. He was not particularly sure where they fell on the elf's time-line, and he did not want to tell him to much. He might not remember, but also might, and Ashura knew such things could cause ripples and effects no one might expect. Yuuko's warnings had sunk in, especially with her here now.
"Well, it is not a great concern here. Have you found your rooms?" he inquired, shifting only slightly as two small creatures suddenly pounced out of the nearby beds and around his concealed feet - a bright red and yellow creature (a Flareon), and what looked more like a normal puppy, happily playing. Ashura looked down once for a brief second and then up again at Legolas, the two not seeming to bother him.

"My rooms?"
Obviously not. He hadn't even thought that he would have anywhere to stay and had meant to go to the forest. Trees were more comfortable anyway.
no subject
"Yes, everyone in the Castle is assigned a room, though you do not have to use it," he explained, again unconcerned as the Flareon stopped and peered at Legolas.
He leaned forward, sniffing, and then yipped, recognizing the other and pushing into his hand, looking for affection. The puppy was quick to follow suite, barking high and playful as he pumped into Agni to get Legolas' fingers. Ashura chuckled, watching the pair.
"Ah, might I introduce my pets - Agni," he nodded at the red and yellow one. "And Bacon." He nodded at the pup, making a soft sound when Agni shoved at Bacon, the Flareon subsiding some, though his tail continued to wag.
no subject
Not that he'd be able to bring himself to look any time soon. It was so nice outside, even with the onset of winter. The cold wouldn't bother him, after all. Although, when the trees grew bare he'd probably take to his room.
As soon as the two started trying to get his attention, he could help but laugh softly. Giving Agni a light pat before urging Bacon over to his other side. He had two working hands after all!
"They're very friendly."
no subject
"I would hardly raise them to attack," he chuckled, glad the Legolas did not seem bothered by them. The dogs, for their part, were quite happy to rub and purr against the elf's hands. "They seem to be taking to you well."
But then, they usually took well to most people, such was their nature.
"How much of this place have you had time to explore, Legolas?"
no subject
And they were cute, once Legolas got past the strange coloring of the Flareon. With an animal so affectionate, how could he judge by the color?
"Very little, thus far. I imagine I'll have plenty of time though."
no subject
"Well, as I said, I knew you before. I doubt your scent has changed over much to them," he said softly, moving to take a seat on a nearby bench in a whisper of silk and the clink of jewels.
Agni had dropped to his back for a belly rub, Bacon following suite in the way of a pup following it's parent.
"Well, I hope so. It means you shall be here longer, though I know that sounds particularly selfish on my part."
no subject
Legolas rubbed softly at their bellies, looking for a spot that would make their legs kick before looking back to Ashura. Spoiled little animals.
"Were we good friends then?"
no subject
"I suppose that depends on how you 'define' good, but we shared wine and laughter, so I would say so," he nodded his head, reaching out with a bare foot (with manicured toes, of course) and prodding gently at Agni's side. The Flareon wriggled and yipped, batting at Ashura's foot in a cat-like manner that just made Ashura smile.
"I was saddened, when you left."
no subject
"I am sorry for that."

The king shook his head, the jewels in his hair sparkling like stars in a night sky.
"It is not your fault, Legolas. None of us really have control of that." To an extent. Lately, many had been wandering out to the Dead Zone and simply.. not come back. He wasn't sure if that was the way out or not, or merely a way to severe themselves from the Castle. But he had not the heart to do it... or perhaps it was the courage.
He reached down, picking up Agni and setting him in his lap, stroking the silky, yellow fur.
"But if you truly feel the need to assuage guilt, you could always have a drink with me some time."
no subject
"I would be glad to share a drink with you. Any time that you wish for company, you need only ask it of me."
no subject
"A dangerous offer, my friend. I enjoy company, you see," he smiled warmly, fingers moving through the yellow fur of his pet, finding the motion soothing for himself.
And frankly, he was in need of it. Since Felix and he had parted ways, he liked having people over to fill the void Felix had left in their chambers, now fitted for one instead of two. Still, he felt the loss, and it was all the more acute for having to see him almost daily.
"I will take you up on it, of course."
no subject
"Then my company will be yours."
no subject
"Gladly accepted," he smiled brighter now, a thing that did not fit his somewhat melancholy colored robes. "Do you have any questions I could answer for you, in my gratitude? I know this place is confusing upon arrival."
no subject
"If I am honest, I'm not entirely sure what I might ask."
no subject
"Anything and everything," he waved his hand airily, a rather royal gesture that, like a king schooling their child or a trusted courtier in the ways of politics so subtle as to be nonexistent. He did not mean it as offense, but it was hard to erase habits, even after four years - because what was four years to nearly three hundred?
"I shall try and answer them all."
