Who: Martel Yggdrasill and Zelos Wilder

[Martel actually started holding onto Zelos loosely around the waist an hour or so ago, after they went over a hilly patch of ground. They'd been riding for a few hours, she thinks, from the way the sun has been moving. She can't tell, of course. And she can't tell where they are, either. She's never been out this far from the Castle, really. That doesn't mean she's not enjoying, it, though.]

So, have you been to this place before? Wanderer's Yard.

[Martel, she could always figure him out so well. ]

I'm just not fond of a castle feeding off my soul.

I don't think anybody is, but a lot of them just don't want to think about it. [Truer words have never been spoken, Martel.] Sometimes it's just easier to ignore it.

[a slight dry amused noise] Yeah.

Wish I could too.

Someone has to pay attention. If we don't do it, then who will?

We can't be that special. Others got to be looking into this stuff too.

Hopefully. The people going on the expedition have to be interested, or else they wouldn't be going.

[He falls quiet, since he's not really one that's quick to share his thoughts. ]

And obviously you're interested, or you wouldn't be here right now, going out of your way to ride all the way out here. And bringing me, to boot. [She pauses.] What's the real reason you brought me? Not that I'm good company, but the other one.

[the other one huh? ]

You're an angel.

[She tilts her head, looking at the back of his.] And what does that have to do with...anything, really?

It means I don't have to pretend not to see or hear something other people wouldn't pick up. Since you know I'm one too.

That is true... [She pauses, not quite sure where she is going with this, but.] You know, I have a friend, and when I told him I was an angel he said someone once told him that angels only dream of being human.

[a slight pause; he's so glad his back is turned to Martel, just saying]

Really, huh.

I told him I wouldn't know, because I'm a half-elf. I'm technically not even human to begin with. Not in a lot of people's eyes. [Then she laughs.] And then he turns around and tells me my wings are beautiful. I think he is giving seriously mixed messages.

[He chuckles]

Did you tell him about the fiance? He might be trying to flirt.

Yes, I told him. I think he's just naturally like that. [She giggles.] Supposedly his nickname is 'Puppy'.

Heh, sounds fitting. Is he coming on the expedition?

Yes, he is. After I told him about it. We could use more fighters, and I'd like to see someone pick a fight with him and see him fight with that hunk of metal he calls a sword.

Hunk of metal he calls a sword?

The Buster Sword. It represents honor and dreams... I think. [Zack explained it so much better.] It also happens to be a large broadsword that is probably as long as I am tall.

How in the world do you swing something like that?!

I don't even know. The one time I saw him use it I wasn't exactly paying as much attention as I should have. Though he did tells me he uses the blunt edge, so he doesn't dull it.

[a snort] A sword of that size must weigh a ton, it doesn't need a sharp edge to kill something.

I suppose just dropping it on a monster would do, wouldn't it? [She's laughing at that thought.]

[he laughs too] Definitely!

I'll stick with short swords, I think. Much more elegant!
