GRAND RELAUNCH BARBECUE

Who: EVERYONE
What: Awesomeness Committee BBQ party
When: Saturday, July 6
Where: Castle lawn and pool

So many days into summer and not a single pool party yet! Today castle residents may hear some noise wafting from the lawn and pool along with that distinct smell of the barbecue roaring. Oh yeaaah, Barney Stinson's got you covered, Paradisa!

The lawn area has been decked out all in colors, with the grills to one side and the chocolate fountain to another. For those more inclined to chill out and soak up the sun, there are picnic rugs rolled out on the green grass among any kind of game you could wish for. The pool itself has a few floating beds thrown in and all sorts of toys, with a changing tent set up just nearby for anyone who decides they want to get wet and wild after all!

All the fun is for forgetting recent horrors the residents have been through. So once the sun goes down, there will be a time to write down all unpleasantness, and set it to fire. But be careful not to stay out too late; the Castle may have a different idea of Cinderella once midnight strikes.

Having bypassed the food entirely (good thing he didn't investigate the purpose of a 'barbecue' too thoroughly before coming), Gideon is walking across the lawn, mildly curious about the games that have been set up. He's not familiar with any of them, least of all the one requiring a large net, but he wouldn't mind watching.

A party seemed like a good idea. Very good, actually. It would be a nice distraction from the crazy things that had happened in recent months, one after the other, and he was surprised more people didn't wake up screaming.

He was meandering through the party, dressed in a dark maroon tunic laced with silver. Out of the corner of his eye, he spied Gideon and smiled to himself, making for the other magic user.

"Gideon! I did not think to see you about," he smiled at him, hand raised in greeting.

Gideon glances up at the sound of his name and, upon seeing Vanyel, nods in acknowledgment. He flips open his tablet to greet him properly and walks over.

I do come outdoors during the day, he answers, a small smile playing at his mouth.

"You mean the sun does not burn you?" he teased in return, his own smile soft, glad that there was enough ease between them for these small jokes.

To the contrary, it's pleasant, he agrees, quietly amused. Are you enjoying yourself?

[personal profile] peacockherald 2013-07-10 12:38 am (UTC)(link)

As much as one can. It's a bit hot, but at least I am not having to ride hard through the summer day.

[ He smiled and motioned over to the refreshments. ]

Have you had something to drink?

thraxios: (i just told the biggest lie)

[personal profile] thraxios 2013-07-13 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Gideon is nodding along with Vanyel's words, but he shakes his head at the question.]

Have you?

[ He shook his head. ]

Shall I fetch us something then? Beer or something less alcoholic?

thraxios: (i'm waiting for the train)

[personal profile] thraxios 2013-07-13 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, but I'm not thirsty. Feel free to get yourself something.

[ He cocked a brow. ]

Are you sure? It is quite hot, I do not want you to faint from the heat.

[His mouth quirked a bit. ]

Rest assured, I would catch you though.

[Gideon's expression remains placid.]

Quite certain.

[ He nodded his head, retreating a moment and returning with water, sipping. ]

I suppose we should enjoy the heat while it lasts. It is hard to believe it is nearly the fall again in but a few moon turns and then winter.

"Mr. Thraxios! Hello!"

Have one very happy Elizabeth jogging over, a little breathless from all the activity. She's never been to a pool party before, another thing marked off a list somewhere, and while she's not dressed for swimming it looks like she's at least dipped her legs in--her skirt is wet, and her shoes seem to have been lost somewhere.

Gideon smiles back at her, quietly glad to see she's in good spirits. Her enthusiasm is, in truth, contagious--he always seems to be in a better mood after they chat, even if their conversations don't always start off cheerful.

Maselle, he writes in greeting, bowing his head slightly, then glances down at her bare feet. Have you been enjoying yourself?

"I have! This is--so much fun," she replies, motioning to all the activities. It's a little more exciting than a fake beach, and to have the time to actually enjoy it makes all the difference in the world.

"Have you felt the water yet?"
thraxios: (that will come to pull us apart)

[personal profile] thraxios 2013-07-09 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Gideon shakes his head. In truth, he's been avoiding it. While he'll always hold a fondness in his heart for the sea, such a measly body of water doesn't really hold an appeal for him. But he'd rather speak cheerfully to Elizabeth. You have, I see.

"Oh, come on! You have to at least feel it," she insists, reaching for his arm.

Gideon shrugs--not necessarily trying to dislodge her hand, but certainly hoping he won't be dragged over to the pool at that moment. Perhaps later.

His reluctance is enough for her to let go.

"Later? Why not now?"
thraxios: (i just told the biggest lie)

[personal profile] thraxios 2013-07-13 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, no--she isn't disappointed, is she? Gideon should hate to disappoint her. Better think fast.

I'm still trying to puzzle out these games, he writes out quickly, gesturing vaguely towards the people tossing balls towards another ball. Are you familiar with any of them?

[personal profile] birdorcage 2013-07-14 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
She turns to look at what he's indicating, then shakes her head.

"No, but we can figure them out together."

Gren wanders the party, licking the remnants of barbeque sauce from his fingers as politely as was feasibly possible, a beer in one hand (which made the process even more difficult). He's not sure if he's up to playing (at least not so soon after eating), so he's occupying the sidelines for moment, where he encounters Gideon.

He gives the man a curt if not slightly embarrassed wave at having been (possibly) seen looking a bit foolish with fingers in his mouth, but he smiles all the same.

"Not interested in playing?"
thraxios: (that will come to pull us apart)

[personal profile] thraxios 2013-07-09 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Gideon nods to the man who hails him, deeply unconcerned for his manners. The food at this 'barbecue' seems to be fairly messy as a rule, and he's hardly one to speak with any expertise on what's appropriate at such an event.

The question requires him to sidle closer, keeping out of the way of the more active participants, so the other man can read what he writes. These games are entirely foreign to me. What of you?

Gren glanced at the paper, careful to hold his drink away to prevent condensation from dripping on it.

"Volleyball and horseshoes I know," he said, point to each of the games in turn, "but I'm not sure what that is. Looks like some weird combination of bowling and shuffleboard."
