GRAND RELAUNCH BARBECUE

Who: EVERYONE
What: Awesomeness Committee BBQ party
When: Saturday, July 6
Where: Castle lawn and pool

So many days into summer and not a single pool party yet! Today castle residents may hear some noise wafting from the lawn and pool along with that distinct smell of the barbecue roaring. Oh yeaaah, Barney Stinson's got you covered, Paradisa!

The lawn area has been decked out all in colors, with the grills to one side and the chocolate fountain to another. For those more inclined to chill out and soak up the sun, there are picnic rugs rolled out on the green grass among any kind of game you could wish for. The pool itself has a few floating beds thrown in and all sorts of toys, with a changing tent set up just nearby for anyone who decides they want to get wet and wild after all!

All the fun is for forgetting recent horrors the residents have been through. So once the sun goes down, there will be a time to write down all unpleasantness, and set it to fire. But be careful not to stay out too late; the Castle may have a different idea of Cinderella once midnight strikes.

A barbecue was certainly an interesting invention, one that Sunny had never before seen in action. She was fascinated to see how one might cook with it - even though it was inadvisable that she attempt it for herself.

She stepped closer, careful to keep her skirt out of the way of any of those flames as she watched.

Barney noticed the girl watching and raised an eyebrow as he nodded hello. "Hey, how's it going?"
manymoreteef: (Still smiling)

Sunny looks up, eyes wide for a moment. She was still unaccustomed to people addressing her like that instead of those around her. Once she confirmed that the man was indeed talking to her she smiled, "Hello. I was just admiring the barbecue. I've never seen one before and was very interested in how one would cook on one."

"You've never been to a barbecue? Oh-hooo, you poor thing." Genuine, if exaggerated concern showed on Barney's face as he wiped his hands on the towel he'd slung over his shoulder and hung his tongs on the side of the grill. "Come on around, I'll show you how it works - that is, if you don't mind a little heat."

What a curious response. He seemed kind enough, though. And if he were willing to show her the workings of this strange device he had certainly gained her interest. She smiled and shrugged slightly, "No. We never had such things at home and recent events have caused me to..." Oh how to put this... "Move from place to place rather quickly so we hadn't the opportunity for a frivolity such as this."

Mind the heat? That went without saying, didn't it? Oh how did that idiom go? 'If you don't like the heat get out of the kitchen'? Not entirely appropriate for the situation but the literal meaning was quite the same, of curse. "And to answer your inquiry - I do not mind the heat a bit. It's necessary to ensure the food is cooked properly."

In Barney''s experience, anyone who spent their childhood moving around like that was bound to have some kind of parental issues... perfect. He smirked as Sunny joined him behind the grill. "The key to any good barbecue is to start it off nice and slow.... You have to heat the coals a little bit at a time. Give the warmth time to build up and spread out over every inch of it."
manymoreteef: (Up to no good)

Barney you have no idea. Sunny nodded as she looked over the setup. It was quite simple when put that way, not nearly as complicated as she had thought it might be. "I understand. That way you have an equal amount of heat throughout - to keep it even and not overcook anything right?"

Tex muttered about the inability to eat, but it was only half loud and mostly indistinct. If she had a mouth it would be watering. As it was the best she got were density of the metal grill and thermal readings from the bbq, the suit deemed it a tactically nill threat; which made her bark out laughter.

Sunny tilted her head as she looked for the source of the laughter. She smiles when she sees the armored person - though she's unsure as of yet who it is. "Hello? Is something funny?"

Hello voice she recognized, or at least voice her sensors identified within moments. "Sunny?" She hadn't seen the girl all grown up, so this was the first connection with her. "Uhh yeah I was just thinking what a shame it was we didn't have all this food on Isla Sorna, the dinos would have never touched us.

Sunny's face lit up when she heard her voice. "Oh! Tex! It's lovely to finally meet you in person." She smiled and nodded, "That's possible although I don't know if there is sufficient food here to feed two T-Rex and the amount of raptors that were there."

"Yeah, nice to see you not running from dinosaurs." She didn't talk like a child, but that was nothing new, or..well it was but this is how Tex had gotten to know her so the baby thing would be all new. "You're probably right, and you know they always double dip so you just can't take them anywhere."

There is so much food here, Wade isn't even sure where to start. It's all kinds of smells that send her stomache rumbling in a rather embarrassing manner.

"It looks fantastic doesn't it?" she says to the girl she spots watching the meat roast.

She smiles kindly and nods at the woman speaking, "It does, yes. I've never been to a barbeque before so I'm having a difficult time deciding what I would like to try first."

"Really? Your first? Not even on holidays or anything like that?" It was practically a summer tradition where she came from, but then again, maybe her world was different.
manymoreteef: (Ready for this?)

[personal profile] manymoreteef 2013-07-17 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
She nodded, "That's correct. We did used to have special meals for holidays but they were always cooked indoors to my knowledge."

"I guess there's nothing wrong with it, but stuff like this always kind of spells summer to me. The sound and the smells and the sun on your shoulders and everything like that," Wade said, amused a little with the vaguely formal manner of the girl's speech. It was charming.
