So many days into summer and not a single pool party yet! Today castle residents may hear some noise wafting from the lawn and pool along with that distinct smell of the barbecue roaring. Oh yeaaah, Barney Stinson's got you covered, Paradisa!

The lawn area has been decked out all in colors, with the grills to one side and the chocolate fountain to another. For those more inclined to chill out and soak up the sun, there are picnic rugs rolled out on the green grass among any kind of game you could wish for. The pool itself has a few floating beds thrown in and all sorts of toys, with a changing tent set up just nearby for anyone who decides they want to get wet and wild after all!

All the fun is for forgetting recent horrors the residents have been through. So once the sun goes down, there will be a time to write down all unpleasantness, and set it to fire. But be careful not to stay out too late; the Castle may have a different idea of Cinderella once midnight strikes.

Martel has actually gravitated to the chocolate fountain, and is currently dipping in strawberries to eat. She has a bit of a sweet tooth and to be honest, not that much of an appetite.

She's enjoying herself so far, and is peering around, looking for people she knows.

Of course Ted came to the barbecue. Hanging around people, socializing, having fun. It was a good balm to the scary stuff. And then he saw Martel. His face lit up.

"Martel! Hi! It's good to see you here."

Martel smiles and waves at Ted when she hears him call her.

"Hello, Ted! It's good to see you too. Enjoying yourself?"

"Yeah, it's the best!" He nodded happily. "It's so great we can have parties like this after all the scary stuff."

"Of course we can! It just proves that whatever the castle puts us through, we can still make the best of our situation."

"That's right!" He glanced around, happily taking everything in. "So what do you do at a barbecue?"

"I have no idea. I've never been to one, and honestly, have never heard about them until a few days ago." She thinks about it for a moment. "I'm guessing you just relax and have a good time."

"And eat really good food." That part was obvious because of all the delicious smells. "This will be my first one, too. We can do it together."

"I'm sure we can. Anyway, people here are anything if not helpful." She pauses, looking around. "Were you going to go swimming, or can you not swim?" Martel wasn't sure if he could, since she knew that he didn't live in the... best of places for swimming.

"Hello, Chie!" She waves at the girl. Well, she was seeing more people than she thought she would.

"Hey. You just got here?"

"Yes, I did. I decided to get a bit of food before anything. I see you've been swimming?" From the bathrobe and the fact she came from the direction of the pool.

"Yep! The water feels nice. It's cool enough to counter the heat, but it's warm enough that you don't have to worry about freezing for the first few seconds"

"That's good. I may have to go dip my feet in later."

"You didn't bring a swimsuit?" She wants to see dat body, Martel.

"No, I don't actually own one." She doesn't always like to swim, and there's the fact that usually in swimsuits people can see her Cruxis Crystal.

A cheery voice calls out nearby.

"Hey, Martel-san!"

Rise bounces on over in her new bikini and a small wrap skirt. Strawberries and a chocolate fountain were calling to her... and she just happened to see someone she knows had the same idea!

"Hello, Rise!" She waves and smiles at her. "I see that you've been swimming as well."

"Yeah, a little bit! It's a waste coming to a summer party without a swimsuit, right?"

... Also a waste coming to a summer party without swimming, but that's not the way she phrased it. Goes to show what her priorities are today.

"How about you?" She dips a strawberry in the chocolate fountain and takes a bite. "Been swimming at all? Playing volleyball? There's lots of stuff to do!"

Martel didn't actually own a swimsuit, so of course she hadn't brought one. She doesn't bring that up, though.

"No, I just got here. I've never been to a party quite like this before." Sometimes there wasn't a lot to celebrate at home and noble parties were much more...formal and restrained. Except when somebody tried to assassinate someone else.

but... she can wish for one! think of poor Reborn! D;

"Me neither!" Except Rise means she's been to things more like Japanese festivals and entertainment industry parties where she's mostly there to work, making connections and getting sponsors and such. The only "real" parties she's had have been small gatherings with her friends.

"It's kinda fun, though, isn't it?"

"It is! The fact that there's chocolate only makes it better." Martel has developed a bit of a sweet tooth, thanks to a certain hitman.

maybe Reborn would prefer her -without- one, though...?

"Chocolate makes everything better!" She says with a giggle and a wink.

Well, unless it's magical chocolate from the castle. But it's not a holiday today (that she knows of), and she doesn't feel compelled to kiss Martel or recite corny lines or anything, so they're probably safe.
