Oh, Kenzi. That was not a good idea at the moment. Not a good idea at all. Well, maybe for her. Not for him. The coffee was getting cold. He'd need another mug. He'd have to get up and make one, which meant he'd have to move her feet. It sounded like an excellent idea.

"Tell me again after you've been to the hot springs."

"After we've been," she grinned, nudging him with her feet. "I intend to make you a hedonistic boy, enjoying the small things in life that you seem to put your nose up at."

It was his turn to swat at her, making her move her feet off the couch so he could sit down again when he came back with his fresh coffee. She earned a snort of derision from him as he did so.

"Good luck with that. I enjoy plenty of small things. I've already told you about some of the things I enjoy. It doesn't hurt to have some culture, Kenzi."

Her feet went back in his lap, and she stuck her tongue out at him. "You enjoy things that aren't sensory. We have to give you some overdrive. Pamper you a bit. Let you get the good side of the human schtick."

"I enjoy plenty of things that are sensory. Racing flat out at full throttle down a straightaway, for example. Breathtaking, even for an AI. A glorious sunset over the desert, with the stars first peeking through. Baiting Michael. All very sensory. Perhaps not tactile, but sensory." Smug. He has it. Who needed to be human to enjoy life? Pampering, bah.

One hand was on her mug, the other moved down and began to distractedly play with her piercing. "Well, there's that, yeah. But there's a whole whackload of people stuff that you haven't even touched on yet."

His eyes strayed to follow her hand, then he very pointedly made the decision to keep his eyes on her face, instead. Almost as distracting, but more manageable.

"I'm sure there are many things that not every human has done, either."

"There are lots of things that most people do, Kitt-Katt. And you're going to do them."

"I'm sure I will, all in good time. This is the first time I've had coffee, for instance." He took another drink for emphasis, looking over the top of his mug at her.

"And what do you think of it?"

"Not nearly as good as the hype. But not distasteful, either." He'd be drinking more, if that better answered her question.

"Good. Because I'm a coffeeaholic, so I'll be showing you how to make it for the next two weeks." Beaming, she nudged him with her foot again, then moved to get up.

She went over to her dresser again, pulling out a pair of pants and wriggling into them. "But, for now, I need eats and to talk to Wes."

"Ah. Another one of my 'duties'. I'll add it to the list." He'd have to carry a notebook at this rate.

He watched her as she walked away, telling himself he was simply admiring a particularly pleasing specimen of the human form. She kept herself in good condition. It was normal to admire that in a human. He also told himself that he wasn't disappointed when she slipped into a pair of pants. He was becoming rather good at lying to himself.

... Wes probably wasn't a woman. Yet another thing that was fine with him.

She pulled out a shirt and tugged it on, grabbing a pair of socks and heading over to her bed to sit and put them on. "You catch on quick, poutylips. Why don't you met me at the springs around seven? And you'd better bring something to swim in..."

"If I don't find anything better to do, perhaps I will. But I won't be swimming." He really was going to need that notebook, and a pen, too.

"You're going in one way or the other, Kitt, so you'd best bring something to wear." She slipped her boots on, lacing them up and humming to herself.

He sighed, knowing that if he kept arguing he'd give in. If he stopped, he might be able to find something else to do and claim forgetfulness when the time came.

"I'll put it on the list."

"You do that. Because if you're only in your manties, well... Oops." Getting up, she straightened her shirt and walked over behind the couch. Bending over, she gave the top of his head a kiss and a quick squeeze around his shoulders.

"Right. I'm off to see Wes about a job now. I'll see you at seven?"

"Seven. Got it." He'd do his best to keep himself occupied until then.

"Don't get lost," she called, heading out the door with a wave.

It was hard to get lost when he didn't end up going anywhere. He cleaned up as promised, then considered a walk around the grounds of the castle, but he wasn't feeling social. He drank some more coffee, avoided having lunch, and just because he felt he had to - he wished for his desired notebook and pen, nodding with impressed satisfaction at the quality provided for him.

Seven o'clock crept up on him before he realized it, and found him curled into a corner of the couch, napping.

She was down at the springs, looking around for him at seven. She was a little disappointed that he wasn't there, but hid it behind a shrug as she got out of her clothes and slipped in for a soak. She could always just walk up to her room with her clothes in a bundle. Towels weren't completely necessary. But still...

Something woke him up, but he couldn't say what. He sat up, disoriented, running a hand over his face and surprised to feel some stubble coming in. He glanced at his watch, experiencing a brief bout of panic when he realized he was late. Racing to the bathroom, he grabbed a towel, then came out and shoved his new notebook into his pocket, as he flipped open his journal to let Kenzi know he was on his way.

She had her book closed, with her boot over it, because she didn't want to hear the castle nattering while she was soaking. So she sat there, wondering what he was up to and if he was all right.

She didn't answer. Fortunately, he was becoming more familiar with the layout of the castle and its grounds. He only got lost about five times, as opposed to twenty-five. Marked improvement.

When he finally showed up, he was still fully dressed, had no change of clothes, and had her towel draped around his neck.

At least his plan had worked. No soaking for him.
