"Mmhmm," she hummed, settling in because obviously, that was that. Her hand was tangled in his shirt, and she was tucked as closely as she could manage. She was seeking comfort, and he was the only person around she knew to look for it from.

He wasn't tired. No, that wasn't right. He was tired. He wasn't sleepy. He still wasn't very good at recognizing the differences. After she was asleep, he'd steal away from her bed for the shower he was starting to long for. After that... he'd go sleep in his own bed. But for now, he'd be here for her, for as long as she needed him.

She'd fall asleep to the steady beat of his heart, hand resting over it on his chest as she slipping into slumber with a smile on her face.

Once he knew she was asleep, he slipped away from her bed, claiming the bathroom for his shower. He could see why humans liked it so much - it was a luxurious feeling to have the water sloshing over him, soap in his hair, the feeling of rinsing away the grime of the day. As a car he'd gotten thoroughly cleaned maybe once or twice a month. This? This was akin to heaven.

He stepped out and toweled off, peeking his head around the door just long enough to make sure she was still asleep before padding out into the room to grab his pajamas. He was getting forgetful in his humanity. And yes, he wore underwear to bed, under his PJ bottoms, thank you very much. Except he wasn't going to sleep. He still had an uneasy relationship with the entire concept. He'd sleep when he absolutely could not stay awake any longer, and not one minute before.

He didn't need the volume to be able to play more of the game, so he switched it off, using his imagination to fill in the sounds of his targets being taken down, trying not to be too loud in his victory celebrations.

He fell asleep on the couch with the controller still in his hands.

She never was an early riser, per se, but she'd zonked out early enough that she was up before noon - for once. Her hand moved to find the warmth she'd fallen asleep with, frowning when it wasn't there. That pulled her up out of sleep, wondering what she was missing. Rubbing her eyes, she half-pushed herself up, looking around the room. Right. Kitt lived with her now. And he'd fallen asleep here-- only... he wasn't here.

Looking over, she saw he wasn't in his bed, either. Well, that was enough to have her getting out of bed and sleepily shambling over, just in case he'd fallen off the other side. Nope.

The tv was on, though, and she went over, looking down and smirking when she saw him passed out on the couch, mouth open and legs splayed. It was a shame he could be such a dink sometimes, because standing there ogling him, she had to admit he was kinda hot.

He'd be horrified if he knew it was past noon. Unlike her, he was an early riser - though admittedly that was easier to do when one didn't need to sleep. But he'd always considered anyone who slept past the morning hours to be unnecessarily slothful. For it to be him was bordering on unforgivable.

Fortunately, he was out cold and uncaring of the hour.

Or the ogling.

She snuck into the bathroom, brushing her teeth quickly because he was totally the type to comment on morning breath. Then she went back to the couch, kneeling down and whispering, "Ki-itt."

She was already getting to know him pretty well.

He reached up with one hand to swat away the annoying buzz, mumbling something unintelligible before rolling over so his back was to her.

Grinning, she moved to keep her mouth by his ear. "Ki-itt."

He was hugging a couch pillow now, a scowl starting to form on his sleeping face as he mumbled again, this time more coherently. "I told you Turbo Boost was offline, Michael."

With an opening like that, she couldn't resist. Her hand moved down to his butt, and she gave it a grope as she moved back and yelled, "TURBO BOOST. OH MY GOD, IT'S A CLIFF!"

"WHAT!" He was awake instantly, bolting upright with a look of stunned horror on his face, his eyes wild as he scanned the room frantically for the danger. It took him a full minute before his heart started beating again, he was sure of it. Now the scowl was real as he shifted slowly into a more comfortable sitting position, hugging the pillow closer to his chest, his eyes finding hers.

"That wasn't funny."

She laughed, folding over him and slapping his chest as she devolved into a fit of giggling. "Oh my god, oh my god, yes it was. Oh god... your face... ahahahahahaha!"

At least the slap made sure his heart started again. He ran his hand down his face, wiping away the last of the terror, glaring at her. Not that it was doing any good, because she was a quivering mass of laughter next to him. He poked at her with his foot.

"You can stop laughing now. Show's over." Just wait. He'd think of a way to get her back but good. Somehow.

Still giggling, she sat up, draping her arms over his knee and looking down at him. "How come you slept on the couch?"

Which was a secret way of asking why he hadn't stayed curled up with her.

"I needed a shower. I can only take so much of summertime." All right, she was still being relatively nice. He supposed he could see the humor in the situation. Later.

"I don't like sleeping. I only meant to play for a little while, but I guess it didn't work out that way." He finally smiled a little. "I hope I didn't snore and wake you."

"Not that I could hear. But then, I wasn't right next to you this time."

Another dig.

"So, you get any further?"

Odd. No matter. "I'm glad, then. I've heard it can be annoying. Driving people to sleep apart."

He nodded, his grin becoming more enthusiastic. "Next time I'm going to take you."

"Take me, huh? I don't think we're that friendly yet, Kitt." She smirked, slapping his thigh lightly, then pushing off the couch. "I need coffee. Coffee is necessary to live." She yawned and went over to the small coffeemaker she'd wrangled and began making a pot.

Definitely odd. He frowned, not sure if he understood what she was talking about or not, as he watched her go to make the coffee.

"A lot of humans seem to think so. My technician lived on it, I think." He must still be tired. Sleepy. Not quite awake yet.

"Caffeine pumps us up through the day. Makes all that 'I didn't get enough sleep' crap go far, far away. Want a cup?"

He pushed the pillow aside, rising to take her up on her offer. "It smells wonderful. Does it taste as good?" The caffeine would be a nice perk if the coffee tasted as fantastic as it smelled. He practically followed his nose to her side, peering down at the coffeemaker with anticipation.

"That depends. I like mine with milk and sugar, but we don't have a fridge, so I make do with whitener. It can be kinda harsh without it." She turned to look over at him, then leaned against him, still somewhat sleepy. "Are you sore from couch crashing?"

"I'll follow your lead on this one. I don't have a preference." She was becoming very 'touchy' towards him. It left him confused, wondering what it was all about. Maybe she was just still tired, too. She looked like she might be. He didn't mind; it was a welcome change.

"No. The couch is rather comfortable. I'm sore from all that rubbing."

"..."

She drew back, looking up at him with wide eyes for a moment. "You're not supposed to rub it raw, Ki--," then, of course, it clues in what he meant.

"Oh... Well. Um. You just need to build up some muscle." A slight blush now, thanks, carface.
